Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 2026
League Classic Archive ("we," "us") runs this site at leagueclassicarchive.net. This page explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We've tried to write it in plain language rather than legalese.
What we collect
Account information. When you register, we collect your email address, a password (stored as a salted hash — we never see or store your actual password), and the display name you choose. Your email is used for login and account recovery only; it's never shown publicly.
Content you post. Guides, build details, forum threads and replies, comments, and votes you cast are stored against your account so we can display them and let you edit or delete your own work later.
Moderation reports. If you report content, we store the report (reason, optional details, who filed it) so moderators can review it.
Technical data. Like any web service, our hosting infrastructure processes IP addresses to serve pages and to rate-limit posting (this is how we blunt spam floods) — this isn't stored in our database, though it may appear transiently in standard server logs.
Visit counts. We use Plausible Analytics to see how much traffic the site gets and which pages are popular. Plausible doesn't use cookies, doesn't collect or store any personal data, and can't identify or follow you across visits or between sites — it only reports aggregate numbers (like "this page got 40 views today"). We also run Google-served ads on the site (see below), which involve Google's own ad-related data practices; we don't otherwise run additional third-party trackers ourselves.
What we don't do
- We don't share your account information or content with ad networks or analytics vendors.
- We don't sell or rent your information to anyone, ever.
- We don't email you anything except account-related messages (like password resets). No newsletters, no marketing.
Cookies
We set two cookies ourselves, both strictly functional:
- An authentication cookie, so you stay logged in between visits.
- An anti-forgery cookie, a security measure that protects your account from a class of attack called cross-site request forgery.
Neither of ours is used for tracking or advertising, and you can block cookies in your browser, though you won't be able to log in or post if you do. Google AdSense may set additional cookies of its own for ad delivery — those are governed by Google's privacy policy, not this one.
Who else sees this data
- Amazon Web Services hosts our server and database.
- Amazon SES delivers account emails (like password resets) on our behalf.
- Plausible Analytics processes anonymous, aggregate traffic counts for us, as described above.
- Google AdSense serves ads on the site and may set its own cookies/identifiers under Google's own privacy policy, separate from ours.
The hosting and email providers aren't permitted to use your data for their own purposes — they process it only to provide that service to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and content for as long as your account exists. Deleting a guide, post, or comment removes it immediately. If you want your account itself deleted, contact us (below) and we'll remove your account and personal information, though content you've contributed to shared discussions (like forum replies) may be retained in anonymized form to keep those threads coherent for other readers.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at, and registration is not intended for, children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
